You’ll do better to get it directly from the manufacturer.
Would you buy a used car from this man? There’s something about getting a used car that’s just never the same as getting one direct from the manufacturer. You never know how many previous owners it had, if they cared for it properly, if it has hidden defects or if it’s even reliable. It’s just not the same as getting a car off the showroom floor that has never been driven by anyone but you, a car that looks, feels and even smells new.
Spirituality is much the same. If you get your insights into God from someone else, you never really know how far the teachings may have strayed from the truth. One sure truth though is that you have as much access to God as anyone else. You won’t get that experience of real newness if you get it from someone else, be it me, a neighbor, a minister, a guru or even the Pope. The only way to get that feeling of newness, of having something pure and uniquely yours, is to get it from the “manufacturer,” your Creator and God.
That sounds simple enough, but where do you find God for yourself? If you had to pick one person to be your sole source of spiritual insight, who would it be? There are many prophets and spiritualists, but in all of recorded history there is only one known as the Messiah, the Christ and the Savior, only one who backed up his claims of being one with God with the miracle of his own resurrection. If you search anywhere, is there any better place to seek God’s insights than from Jesus Christ? You won’t know until you read His words and turn to Him in prayer. It’s as easy as putting in the key and turning the ignition. You may find Him to be the vehicle to places you never imagined you could go.
No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven–the Son of Man.
Words of Jesus Christ in John 3:13
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
Matthew 16:13-17
Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 7:15-20
Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, ‘ and will deceive many.
Words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:4-5
I am the LORD your God. You shall have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:2-3
Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Luke 23:43
